There are several different ways of casting on but even though a pattern may suggest one method, it is perfectly acceptable for you to cast on in your preferred way.
One customer was stuck in the middle of her pattern because of the instruction "turn". This was a pattern for a shawl collar and the shaping was created by working in 2 plain 2 purl rib, but by not completing a row and turning round to rib on the other side. The wool was taken through to the back of the work prior to turning. A good way to create shape. |
